Now it won’t be only about Archie, Veronica and Betty. The world’s oldest teenager comic book is to introduce its first openly gay character Kevin Keller, announced the publisher Friday.

“The introduction of Kevin is just about keeping the world of Archie Comics current and inclusive. Archie’s hometown of Riverdale has always been a safe world for everyone. It just makes sense to have an openly gay character in Archie comic books,” said Jon Goldwater of Archie Comics on its official blogsite http://www.archiecomics.com/blog/news/

The “Veronica #202” edition will introduce Kevin as the new hunk in town and Veronica just has to have him in the full-issue story “Isn’t it Bromantic?”

In the new story, when Kevin defeats Jughead in a burger eating contest at Pop’s Chocklit Shoppe, the rich and spoilt Veronica latches onto him. Mayhem and hilarity ensue as Kevin desperately attempts to let Veronica down easy and her flirtations become increasingly persistent.

NFL DRAFT Round 2: Oakland Raiders Would You Mind Drafting...?

The Oakland Raiders get it right in round one. Tom Cable mentioned that he wanted a rookie that would instantly become an impact and he received just that by taking Rolando McClain.

Its not a secret that the Raiders have some glaring holes on the Offensive line, but with Russell Okung and Trent Williams off the board, McClain not only was the best player available at number eight, but fit a defensive need.

Many people will talk about how the Denver Broncos took Tim Tebow number 25 overall, but the two stories in the draft is Kansas City taking S Eric Berry, and Jacksonville reaching for Tyson Alualu.

In my opinion that left a lot of unexpected good talent on the board causing some teams to trade down, and others to keep reaching.

Now in Day two rounds two and three there are many players the Raiders could end up with that could help there teams instantly.

QB Jimmy Clausen

This is what I think may change the entire outlook of not just the draft, but also the future of the Oakland Raiders. It says that the days of Jamarcus Russell are over and we are investing in a franchise QB, paying him back-up money.

Mel Kiper Jr had the Raiders taking Clausen eight overall, but with him slipping to the second round makes him look a whole lot more attractive.

With Tim Tebow going to Denver being picked ahead of Clausen, that makes the Raiders vs Bronco games a little more of intense for the next generation. Besides, you would think Clausen would have a chip on his shoulder being the third maybe even fourth quarter back taken.

A chip on his shoulder being an attribute that Al Davis likes in his QB's...see Ken Stabler, Jim Plunkett, and Rich Gannon.

OT Bruce Campbell

Another player that the Raiders were rumored of taking eight overall is Bruce Campbell. This guy no doubt is an athletic freak, who looks like a Pro-Bowl left tackle right now.

Campbell's problem is lack of playing time. Due to a lack of playing time he has a lack of technique.

Durring the Combine, fans concern was that Al Davis would take Campbell in the top ten. But like Clausen, Campbell's potential looks a lot better with a second round investment as opposed to a first.

I still think this would be a reach in the second round, and we could still get him in the third, but im not sure that Al Davis feels the same way.

OT Charels Brown

If the Raiders do want to address the offensive line in round two, this is the guy to pick. I think everyone had him in the first round penciled in to Dallas until they traded up to get WR Dez Bryant.

Personally, im shocked he is still on the board. He's athletic enough to play in the ZBS, but powerfull enough to play in the power scheme. Brown is scheme diverse who has the college productivity to be a first rounder, let alone a second.

DT Terrance Coty

If you want to make your first round pick look like a genius, why not pick the DT he played with in college and won a National Championship with. That would be instant chemistry with two players that fit a need, that both have winning credentials.

I like Coty a lot, and I would support the pick 100%. My only concern is whether or not Coty can stay in shape. He showed me some good signs by loosing twenty pounds before the NFL Combine, and he may have lost even more for his Pro-Day.

That shows me that he at least has some level of respectable work ethic. I just hope he can stick to it for years to come.

I know some fans want to trade for Albert Haynesworth, but picking Coty helps the team gel overall from a team chemistry point of view.

Joh menceritakan kejadiannya terjadi tanggal 16 Oktober 2009 saat Iwan manggung di TV One. Saat itu lagu itu dicantumkan pencipta lagunya adalah Iwan Fals. Padahal penciptanya adalah Pak Toto

Jon mengungkapkan, sebenarnya pihaknya sudah mencoba bertemu dengan pihak Iwan Fals dan TVOne. Akan tetapi, selama pertemuan tidak ada penyelesaian. “Kami sudah berikan waktu dan tidak ada itikad baik,” jelasnya.

Toto menambahkan, lagu yang dilanggar hak ciptanya berjudul Bencana Alam. Lagu tersebut telah direkamn tahun 1979 atas nama kelompok ‘Amburadul’.

“Yang menyanyikan memang Iwan Fals saya dan Helmy. Beberapa kali dia nyanyikan lagu itu memang tidak ada masalah. Tapi terakhir saat di TVOne tertulis nama Iwan Fals. Ini saat mengganggu saya sehingga anak saya tidak percaya kalau saya menciptakan.,” pungkasnya.

Gara-gara keasyikan dugem di bar, seorang karyawan Apple menghilangkan sebuah barang yang disebut-sebut sebagai prototipe iPhone generasi keempat. Barang itu pun membuat heboh setelah situs teknologi Engadget dan Gizmodo membeberkannya.

Adalah Gray Powell (27), seorang software engineer Apple yang melakukan keteledoran tersebut. Powell adalah lulusan North Carolina State University tahun 2006. Oria inilah yang mengembangkan iPhone Baseband Software, program dasar agar iPhone bisa digunakan untuk melakukan panggilan telepon.

Pantas saja prototipe iPhone dibawanya ke mana-mana termasuk saat masuk ke bar untuk menikmati malam. Terakhir kali ia membawanya ke Gourmet Haus Staudt, sebuah bar bergaya Jerman di Redwood City, California, AS, yang letaknya sekitar 30 kilometer dari kantor pusat Apple.

Pada 18 Maret 2010 malam itu, Powell kelihatannya sangat menikmati bir di tangannya di bar tersebut. Hal ini terlihat dari tulisan dalam aplikasi Facebook di prototipe yang sempat dibongkar Gizmodo.

"Saya terlalu meremehkan kualitas bir Jerman," tulisnya di iPhone tersebut. Itulah tulisan terakhirnya dalam iPhone yang seharusnya masih rahasia itu. Malam itu pula, kali terakhir ia melihat iPhone rahasianya yang lalu tertinggal di toilet bar.

Orang lain yang ada di bar tersebut memungut barang tersebut dan melaporkannya kepada Gizmodo. Foto yang dirilis Engadget sebelumnya dari kiriman pembacanya diduga juga berasal dari barang yang sama. Tips and Trick News : Space shuttle set to land Tuesday morning

After spending an extra day in orbit, the seven astronauts aboard the space shuttle Discovery prepared for a Tuesday morning landing at Kennedy Space Center in Florida as NASA officials closely monitored weather conditions in the area.

Bad weather prompted mission managers to scrap two landing opportunities at the space center on Monday.

Officials were ready to redirect the landing to Edwards Air Force Base in California if Florida's weather proved unfavorable during the two Tuesday morning landing windows.

The shuttle was on schedule for a 7:34 a.m. ET touchdown at Kennedy if conditions allowed. A second opportunity at Kennedy if a delay is necessary would lead to an 8:08 a.m. landing.

If the site becomes Edwards, the first landing opportunity would lead to an 8:01 a.m. ET touchdown, with other possibilities for 9:35 a.m. or 11: 11 a.m. landings.

The astronauts were awakened at 10:21 p.m. ET Monday to begin landing preparations, according to NASA, with mission control playing Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again" as their wake-up call.

On Monday, overcast clouds and a chance of showers in the Cape Canaveral, Florida, area forced the wave-off of an 8:48 a.m. ET opportunity. A scheduled landing at 10:23 a.m. ET also was canceled.

The volcanic ash from Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull glacier, which has caused widespread flight disruptions throughout the world, did not affect the landing plans, NASA said.

The shuttle's re-entry course was not near the ash cloud, the agency said.

The shuttle launched on April 5 and docked to the International Space Station two days later.

It marked the first time four women have been in space at one time.

Three women -- mission specialists Stephanie Wilson, Dorothy Metcalf-Lindenburger and Japanese astronaut Naoko Yamazaki -- comprised part of Discovery's crew.

NASA astronaut Tracy Caldwell Dyson was already at the space station.

The astronauts' trip included three spacewalks and delivery of more than seven tons of equipment and supplies.

There are only three shuttle missions remaining before the space shuttle fleet is retired.

Hal ini terjadi pada pemilihan kepala daerah, semenjak artis sukses mendampingi kepala daerah dalam pilkada. Sebut saja ada Wakil Bupati Tangerang, Rano Karno dan wakil Gubernur Jawa Barat, Dedi Yusuf yang telah memenangi pilkada.

Kini, masing-masing bakal calon kepala daerah yang diusung oleh beberapa partai politik peserta pemilu semakin giat mencari figur keartisan untuk mendampingi balon kepala daerah tadi.

Bahkan, tak jelas segi kualitasnya, kecakapan dalam memimpin, intelektual, pendidikan, kecintaan terhadap daerah yang akan dipimpinnya, parpol dan balon pengusung artis tersebut main tembak saja, yang penting dapat menarik suara sebanyak-banyaknya.

Maka, tak heran bila sebagian masyarakat menjadi resah dengan munculnya beberapa artis panas mencalonkan diri menjadi pemimpin daerah. Setelah Julia Perez, kini muncul artis panas lain yang akan maju mencalonkan diri menjadi pemimpin daerah, yaitu Maria Eva.

Sebab, seorang kepala daerah selain sebagai kepala pemerintahan, tapi juga merupakan tokoh panutan pada warga masyarakat dari segala tindak-tanduknya.

Mendagri, Gamawan Fauzi, mengusulkan akan merevisi Undang-Undang Nomor 32 Tahun 2004 tentang Pemerintahan Daerah. Usulan revisi itu, yakni penambahan syarat wajib mempunyai pengalaman berorganisasi dan tidak boleh cacat moral bagi para calon kepala daerah dalam Pilkada. Cacat moral yang dimaksud, salah satunya adalah dikenal tidak pernah berbuat mesum atau berzina.

Kiranya benar apa yang dikatakan oleh anggota Dewan Pertimbangan Presiden, Jimly Asshiddiqie, yang mengatakan, bahwa seorang pemimpin harus menjadi teladan bagi masyarakat, sebab pemimpin itu lembaga eksekutif yang harus mempunyai syarat lain. Dan, hal ini berbeda dengan anggota Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat.

Melihat fenomena di atas, hendaknya kaderisasi partai politik pengusung bakal calon kepala daerah berjalan dengan baik. Jangan asal mencomot sosok tokoh terkenal begitu saja, yang nantinya justru masyarakat luas yang dirugikan.

She has become the poster girl for the anti-size zero brigade. And now Kim Kardashian is joining the campaign for celebrities to show themselves in their true light as she posed nude in an unretouched photoshoot for a glossy magazine.

The unapologetically curvaceous celebrity posed for former wildchild turned celebrity photographer Amanda de Cadenet in US Harper's Bazaar.

It follows Britney Spears' recent release of unretouched photos from an advertising campaign.

In the photo of Kim seen lying on the floor against a grey backdrop, her enviable figure - which has helped propel the 29-year-old reality television star into a multi-million dollar franchise - is seen in all its glory.

And clearly she has little to worry about.

The Harper's spread is not Kim's first nude photoshoot. In 2007 she was on the cover of Playboy, a moment she now regrets.

She admitted to US Harper's Bazaar: 'I'm sorry I did Playboy. I was uncomfortable.' But this time around, Kim was much happier.

'It's definitely scary, but it's very liberating,' she says.

'I think the message is embrace your curves and who you are. I feel proud if young girls look up to me and say, "I'm curvy, and I'm proud of it now".'

She added: 'I might have a little bit of cellulite. I might not be toned everywhere. I might struggle in this area or that.'

But she reveals that growing up a petite brunette in Los Angeles surrounded by statuesque California girls, she had to search hard for role models, and settled on bombshells Sophia Loren and Raquel Welch.

'Those became the healthy bodies to look up to. Then came Salma Hayek and Jennifer Lopez. I related to them,' she said in the May issue of the magazine.

However, as an 11-year-old, she was fearful of the changes happening to her body and her burgeoning curves were a source of distress.

She told US Harper's: 'I was wearing a C cup by the time I was 11. I would go to bed and pray, "Please, Lord, don't let my boobs grow any bigger". I hated what was happening.'

As one of Hollywood's starlets, she still receives undue attention because of the lack of curvy women on the red carpet. But she still doesn't understand why everyone is always going on about the size of her bottom.

She said: 'My butt is probably not as big as you might think, because I have small legs and a small waist, which makes it appear bigger.'

Meanwhile the reality television star dodged questions about a recent date with Real Madrid football star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The pair enjoyed a lunch together in Madrid, and were allegedly spotted kissing. But she told a Sydney radio station: 'According to the US media, I’m kissing a lot of people.

Greetings and greenings to everyone,

Humans, pets, plants and all walks of life are as different as the seasons. However, as unique and different as we all might be, we share one giant think in common-the planet! That said, wouldn't it be a good idea for all of us to give a special thank you to the wonderful round ball beneath all of our feet?

Earth Day 2010 is a time to remember the environmental challenges facing us, but it is also a time to see these challenges as opportunities for businesses to provide solutions. The bitter discord about environmental and economic problems we face often misses the point. All of these problems are massive opportunities for us to live better lives, help the planet, and build a strong economy. We don't have to choose to have either a healthy environment or a strong economy - we can have both. While many say that steps to solve environmental challenges are too costly, solving these problems is a great opportunity for businesses to thrive by providing cleaner energy, greener buildings, efficient transportation, and less wasteful ways of living. The fate of the environment is our own fate. I hope that Earth Day 2050 finds that we have opted for a better world in all respects.

Sekilas tak ada yang aneh pada Rendi Sihurer (5), buah hati Faisal Sihurer yang tercatat sebagai warga Kampung Islam (Kampis), Kelurahan Papusungan, Kecamatan Lembeh Selatan, Pulau Lembeh, Bitung, Sulawesi Utara. Gelak tawa dan keriangan terus menghiasi wajahnya.

Sehari-hari Rendi juga terlihat asyik bermain dengan sebayanya. Namun siapa kira di balik pakaian yang membalut tubuhnya, persisnya di bagian punggung terdapat daging tumbuh yang menyerupai tangan. Disebut demikian, karena terlihat kuku di bagian ujungnya.

Rendi mengaku tidak terganggu dengan keganjilan itu. Dia juga mengaku tak merasa sakit dengan daging tumbuh di bagian punggungnya. "Tidak sakit," ucapnya lugu, ketika ditemui, Sabtu (17/4/2010).

Hebatnya, dia juga tak lantas rendah diri dengan keadaan tubuhnya. Sebaliknya, dia tetap mengisi hari- harinya seperti lazimnya bocah seusianya, seperti bermain sepak bola di pantai. Ketika bermain bola pun dia tak mengenakan baju, sehingga "tangan ketiganya" terlihat menonjol di punggungnya.

"Tidak," jawabnya ketika ditanya apakah dirinya tidak merasa terganggu. Menurut Faisal, daging tumbuh menyerupai tangan di punggung anaknya ada sejak lahir ke dunia. Dia juga mengaku, sewaktu istrinya hendak melahirkan, dirinya juga tidak merasa ada keanehan, apalagi pertanda seperti firasat.

"Sudah sejak dari lahir," jelas Faisal yang mengaku mempunyai empat anak, dengan tiga di antaranya masih berada di tengah keluarga lantaran si sulung sudah lebih dulu kembali ke pangkuan Tuhan YME. "Rendi anak saya bungsu," akunya. Dia mengungkapkan, sehari-hari tidak ada keluhan dari buah hatinya itu.

Namun memang katanya, kalau tangan itu ditarik. Baru Rendi merasa kesakitan. Karena di tangan itu terdapat tulang rawan yang menyatu dengan punggung anaknya. "Kalau ada yang tarik dia kesakitan," jelas Faisal menirukan pengakuan buah hatinya.

Faisal mengaku ingin sekali anaknya dapat dioperasi sehingga daging menyerupai tangan yang tumbuh di punggung buah hatinya bisa disingkirkan. Namun pendapatannya sebagai pekerja serabutan membuat keinginan itu, untuk sementara dipendamnya dalam-dalam.

Dia mengaku ingin sekali membawa anaknya ke dokter. Bahkan, meski mengaku tergoda hendak menggunting kuku yang tumbuh di "tangan ketiga" buah hatinya, dia terus bermimpi membawa anaknya mendapatkan perawatan dokter.

Namun sejauh ini, dia hanya bisa memendamnya lebih dulu lantaran tidak ada biaya. Pekerjaannya sebagai pekerja serabutan membuatnya berhitung kemampuan kantungnya, meski ingin betul tangan anaknya itu bisa dioperasi. "Saya tidak ada uang untuk membiayai operasi," ucapnya dengan mata menerawang.

Sehari-hari dia mengaku menghidupi keluarga dengan menjadi kuli bangunan, itupun tidak setiap hari ada pekerjaan. Dia mengaku, keinginannya mengoperasikan anaknya lantaran tidak ingin kelak dewasa buah hatinya menjadi rendah diri (minder) dengan keadaannya. Namun kini dia hanya dapat berdoa sembari menunggu uluran tangan dermawan yang ingin membantu menjawab mimpinya.

"Sekarang dia tidak merasa minder karena masih kecil. Yang saya takutkan kalau dia sudah besar nanti merasa minder," jelas Faisal. Anda ingin menjadi dermawan itu? (Reza Pahlevi)

Goldman Sachs finds $5bn for pay and bonuses amid fraud investigation

Goldman Sachs is expected to earmark about $5bn (£3bn) for staff pay and bonuses this week, days after being accused of securities fraud by the US regulators, fuelling the controversy over bankers' rewards in the teeth of the financial crisis.

Chief executive Lloyd Blankfein is expected to unveil revenues of $11bn for the first quarter of this year on Tuesday, up from $9.4bn in the same period of 2009. About 47% of that will go into a "compensation pool" for bosses and employees.

The bank, along with Fabrice Tourre, one of its vice presidents, is the subject of a civil fraud complaint by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It denies the accusations and is understood to believe they are the result of a politically motivated witch-hunt – timed to coincide with a drive by President Obama to get tough on banks, and to come just ahead of its results.

The bank has been aware of the SEC's investigation for two years but had not spoken to investigators since September 2009 and is thought to have been taken by surprise by last week's events. Tourre has been interviewed by Goldman's internal compliance department but is still employed by the bank and has not been suspended.

Speculation over Blankfein's future is seen by insiders as "silly". However, the episode is likely to have incurred the ire of US investor Warren Buffett, who lost more than $1bn on paper in 24 hours on warrants held by his Berkshire Hathaway investment fund as Goldman shares plunged. Buffett endorsed the bank by loaning it $5bn at the height of the crisis at 10% interest. He is an outspoken critic of Wall Street sharp practice and excessive pay. Senior Goldman executives have held talks with major investors, thought to include Buffett, over the SEC accusation.

Blankfein is also anticipating tough questioning later this month on Capitol Hill. Along with other financiers he is expected to testify before the Senate's permanent subcommittee on investigations. The panel's head, Democratic senator Carl Levin, said it had discovered levels of greed that were "frankly disgusting".

Goldman made record profits of $13.4bn last year, after net revenues more than doubled to $45.2bn, racking up at least $100m in net trading revenues every other working day. This came after the demise of several rivals and despite the bank coming close to disaster itself when the crisis was at its height. It took $10bn of US government money, which it has since repaid.

Amid widespread popular anger against the banks, Goldman last year shrank its bonus pool to 36% of revenues rather than the usual 50%. Despite reining in, however, it still paid out a total of $16.2bn. Blankfein was awarded a $9m bonus in shares in 2009, down from the $68m he received in cash, shares and options in 2007.

Due to accounting rules, Goldman sets aside a higher proportion of revenues for staff rewards at the start of the year. The rate at which they are accruing for 2010 overall is likely to drop in subsequent quarters, to end up at about the same as in 2009.

Volcanic Ash Grounds Flights All Over Europe

The cloud of ash billowing from the volcano that erupted in Iceland is now reaching more than 11 kilometers into the air.

Flights across Europe have been canceled due to the volcanic ash cloud and residents are being advised to remain indoors for their own safety.

The volcano, which is located near the Eyjafjallajoekull glacier, blew on Wednesday and since then, dust and a weird odor have been identified in multiple European countries.

People in the UK who have respiratory conditions such as asthma, are being urged to remain inside for now.

According to WHO spokesman David Epstein, they are monitoring the situation very closely but are unsure of exact health risks associated with the ash cloud.

As for air travel, there is no timetable regarding when flights will be allowed to resume.

Weird News: Huge Green Fireball Meteor in Wisconsin

A giant green fireball assumed to be a meteor freaked out residents in Wisconsin and Iowa Wednesday night. The fireball lit up the night sky like it was delight and reportedly caused multiple sonic booms over the state.

The object blazed across the skies at around 10 p.m. CDT, spurring a frenzy of calls to local media. The National Weather Service reports it was probably a meteorite that shook houses under its path. Meteor showers were expected over the area over the past few days.

Not only was the meteor in Wisconsin a shocking sight in the sky, it also probably scared a number of people who didn’t even see it just from the noise alone. “Several reports of a prolonged sonic boom were received from areas north of Highway 20, along with shaking of homes, trees and various other objects including wind chimes,”The National Weather Service said in a statement.

It is unknown whether any portion of the meteorite actually hit the ground – if it was a meteorite, of course. You know there are plenty of folks out there who will be going all conspiracy theory over this thing!

"Glee" Almost Doubles Audience on Return to TV

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - High school musical comedy "Glee" nearly doubled its audience on its return to television after a four-month absence, drawing 13.7 million viewers, the Fox network said on Wednesday.

The award-winning series about a group of misfit students in a struggling competition choir saw its biggest audience ever Tuesday night, positioning the TV show for a move from cult fan status to mainstream hit.

Fox said that Tuesday's episode of "Glee" outperformed the prior season average for the show by 88 percent in total viewers, or 13.7 million people compared to 7.3 million.

"Glee", a quirky, larger-than-life comedy series that features its cast singing cover versions of pop, Broadway and rap songs, has already won Golden Globe, Peabody and Screen Actors Guild awards since its 2009 debut.

The show has been off the air since December 2009 to make way for the annual Fox ratings juggernaut "American Idol".

Two albums of "Glee" songs have hit music charts in the U.S., Australia, Ireland and the U.K., and more than 4.5 million songs from the show have been downloaded in the United States alone. Cast members will embark on a sold out U.S. concert tour in the summer.

Singing competition "American Idol" remains the most-watched U.S. TV show with an average audience in its current 9th season of 24.9 million viewers.

China Earthquake Kills At Least 300 People in Qinghai

A series of strong earthquakes struck China's western Qinghai province Wednesday, killing at least 300 people, injuring thousands and burying many others under toppled houses in a mountainous rural area, officials and state media said.

The U.S. Geological Survey said a magnitude 6.9 temblor struck an area in southern Qinghai, near Tibet, on Wednesday morning and was followed by several aftershocks.

The main quake sent residents fleeing as it toppled houses made of mud and wood, said Karsum Nyima, the Yushu county television station's deputy head of news, speaking by phone with broadcaster CCTV.

"In a flash, the houses went down. It was a terrible earthquake," he said. "In a small park, there is a Buddhist tower and the top of the tower fell off. ... Everybody is out on the streets, standing in front of their houses, trying to find their family members."

The quake hit the county of Yushu, a Tibetan area in Qinghai's south, said the China Earthquake Networks Center, which measured the quake's magnitude at 7.1. A local government Web site put the county's population in 2005 at 89,300, a community of mostly herders and farmers.

State broadcaster CCTV said the death toll had risen to about 300, with an additional 8,000 people injured.

The China Earthquake Administration said phone lines were down, hindering rescue efforts, while workers were racing to release water from a reservoir where a crack had formed after the quake.

In Jiegu, a township near the epicenter, more than 85 percent of houses had collapsed, while large cracks have appeared on buildings still standing, the official Xinhua News Agency cited Zhuohuaxia, a local publicity official, as saying.

"The streets in Jiegu are thronged with panic and full of injured people, with many of them bleeding from their injuries," he said.

There were also students buried under the debris of a collapsed vocational school, Zhuohuaxia said.

State television showed footage of paramilitary police using shovels to dig around a house with a collapsed wooden roof. A local military official, Shi Huajie, told state broadcaster CCTV rescuers were working with limited equipment.

"The difficulty we face is that we don't have any excavators. Many of the people have been buried and our soldiers are trying to pull them out with human labor," Shi said. "It is very difficult to save people with our bare hands."

Five thousand tents and 100,000 thick, cotton coats and heavy blankets were being sent to help survivors cope with strong winds and near-freezing temperatures of around 43 degrees Fahrenheit (6 degrees C), the Qinghai provincial government said in a statement.

Wu Yong, a local military chief, said medical workers also were urgently needed but that roads leading to the airport had been badly damaged by the quake, creating difficulties for people and supplies to be flown in. He said rescue efforts were hindered by frequent aftershocks and strong winds.

The epicenter of the first quake was located 235 miles (380 kilometers) south-southeast of Golmud, a large city in Qinghai, at a depth of six miles (10 kilometers), the USGS said.

Ten minutes later, the area was hit by a magnitude 5.3 quake, which was followed after two minutes by a temblor measuring 5.2, according to the U.S. agency. Both the subsequent earthquakes were measured at a depth of 6 miles (10 kilometers). Another quake, measuring 5.8, was recorded at 9:25 a.m.

Xinhua cited officials at the China Earthquake Networks Center as saying at least 18 aftershocks have been reported and that more temblors exceeding magnitude 6 were likely to occur in the coming days.

Three people were killed Monday after a military jet that took off from Pensacola Naval Air Station crashed and burned in a wooded area in the north Georgia mountains.
A fourth crew member remained missing late Monday.

The T-39N Sabreliner took off from NAS for a routine cross-country training mission and crashed about five miles northeast of Morganton.

Morganton is located in Fannin County near the Tennessee border. It is about two hours north of Atlanta.

When Elton John and Kiki Dee sang Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, little did they know their song could do just that. Because it seems that listening to music you love or hate can have a physical impact on your heart.

A new study has discovered that playing your favourite records can increase your blood circulation and give you the same feel-good factor as going to the gym.

Listening to songs people considered ‘joyful’ widened the blood vessels and encouraged healthy bloodflow. The opposite happened when music they didn’t like was played.

The positive effect of the blood vessels widening was so great the report said it was similar to that ‘previously observed with aerobic activity or statin therapy’. Statins are used to reduce cholesterol.

Dr Mike Miller, a cardiologist at the University of Maryland Medical Centre in the US, who conducted the research, said: ‘We know that stress can cause blood vessels to tighten, but we wanted to see if they would open up when music people enjoyed was played.

‘We thought we would see an increase in bloodflow in the volunteers, but we didn’t think it would be so high.’ The implications of the results are that enjoyable music can promote higher blood flow, which could lead to lower cholesterol, reduced inflammation and lessen the risk of blood clots.

The results also revealed that nitric oxide - a chemical endorphin related to feelings of happiness - was released when the enjoyable music was played.

Musicians most liked included Sheryl Crow and Elvis Presley, while rock band System Of A Down, and rapper Tupac were disliked.

The British Heart Foundation’s Judy O’Sullivan welcomed the results. ‘Relaxation is an important part of a healthy lifestyle,’ she said

What's an American chick doing revealing the secrets of what makes their French idols tick-tock? Quelle horreur!

First, she's married to a Frenchman, lived in Paris for 10 years and has credibility. Second, she's tired of the stereotype image that clothes and cosmetics give French women their allure. It's their approach to life, a mixture of carnal and cerebral, that does it. That old coquette image is wrong, wrong, wrong.

So why are French women still perceived to be a menace? "They have secrets about seduction that we can't grasp and it's scary," says Ollivier. For example, French women know more about giving and receiving pleasure, so they have more guilt-free sex than Aussies. They relish seductive flirtations, expect them, in fact.

"In France it's part of the daily pleasure, whether men and women are interested in each other, or a woman seeing her baker, it's always a pleasure. Flirting is an exchange with a kind of fizz around it; it's not threatening."

That's not all. French women play the field, rather than level it. In other words, they don't change men. They accept their insolences and extravagances, pigheadedness and seductions. (That won't wash with Aussie sheilas.)

There are other shockers to come and Ollivier, with Gallic joie de vivre gets right down to it. French serial and internet dating is a no-no, she says. The natives aren't into sharing. They're jealous.

"But if a French woman wants to sleep with a man first time they go out, she will."

Her editor was horrified but she stuck to her guns."That's the way it is. If they both feel passionate, why not? There's no judgment or guilt in France, it's simple pleasure."

Even more surprising, sex appeal is not the monopoly of pretty French women. Plain Janes are sexy too. "Yes, true. It's not how you tie a scarf that counts, it's what's in the head that wears it."

Smart is the new sexy! Being opinionated is sexy! It's a cerebral turn-on that men enjoy. And, says Ollivier, arguing is a sign of intelligence and passion. Both sexes love to spat, even if they agree.

Marriage, adultery, mistresses, she has jaw-dropping responses to them all. The French don't rush to the altar. Why?

"They have a different point of view. Their culture allows for co-habiting." (France's first woman presidential candidate Segolene Royal was unmarried, with four children. Everyone cheered.) Warning: "I'd never dream of asking a French couple if they are married or not. It would be too gauche. But if you're not faithful, it doesn't mean automatic exclusion." And adultery is OK if it allows someone to preserve their marriage. (It's that nix-to-guilt thing again.)

Mistresses are OK too: a French wife will accept one of many years. "Former president Francois Mitterand comes to mind with his lover Anne Pingeot", which shocked everyone but not the French. "That's life," says the author merrily.

But wives as best friends? When philandering hubbies burble publicly - "My wife is my best friend" (Bill Clinton of Hillary) - is this a goer in France? "Non, non, non. Do that and you become his MOTHER!"

1. Diawal usaha, tidak perlu memproduksi dalam jumlah banyak untuk menghindari kerugian.
2. Berkorban sedikit demi promosi. Anda bisa membagikan gorengan gratis ke beberapa tetangga anda untuk berpromosi dan mendapatkan feed back dari mereka..bila kata "enak" yang terucap.. maka anda bisa lebih pede untuk menjual produk anda.
3. Hitung ulang keuntungan apabila anda memakai jasa karyawan ataupun bila anda tertarik untuk menitipkan gorengan anda di beberapa warung atau toko.
4. Jangan pernah menjual gorengan SISA KEMARIN!!! ini adalah nilai minus terbesar yang dapat anda peroleh dari konsumen anda.
5. Survey dan mencoba membuat gorengan yang unik dan lebih baik dari rasa maupun penyajian dari pesaing anda.
6. Kebersihan adalah sebagian dari MODAL.. hehehe.. yang ini mesti diperhatikan dengan serius.. Nilai plus dari konsumen untuk kebersihan yang terjaga.
7. Berjualan gorengan bisa dengan gerobak dorong maupun gerobak yang menetap.. Anda bisa menyewa tempat untuk stand gorengan anda... atau bisa juga gerobak yang lebih kecil sehingga bisa keliling..
8. Cari karyawan yang sedang butuh pekerjaan.. dan saya rekomendasikan dari daerah.. hehehehe.. mereka kebanyakan tidak rewel dan benar kerjanya.. tapi memang membuat anda nengeluarkan dana ekstra untuk biaya transport mereka dari daerah.

Popular Facebook game accused of encouraging young people to spend real money on virtual cash

FarmVille, a free online farm simulation game available through Facebook, has been accused of generating "hundreds of millions of dollars" from unsuspecting players, many of whom are children.

FarmVille has soared in popularity in the UK and US since its launch in June and has 63 million users, many of who are young teenagers. The game, which is the largest on Facebook, allows members to manage a virtual farm by planting, growing and harvesting crops, trees and livestock. According to Zynga, the company which developed the game, users have built more than 40m virtual farms, more than 20 times the number of actual farms in the US, and on an average day purchase 500,000 tractors to till their land.

On the surface, it seems a harmless, even beneficial, game, encouraging social networking, budgeting and planning.

But Michael Arrington, founder of the Techcrunch blog, has criticised Zynga for "monetising" FarmVille. He said it encouraged players to buy in-game currency, Farm Cash, which allows players to progress faster. New users are given some virtual coins, but users who are desperate to buy the tractors, seeds, cows and sheep more quickly can click on the "Add Farm Coins and Cash" link to buy virtual money with real cash. FarmVille makes clear in its terms and conditions that Farm Cash cannot be redeemed for "real world" money, goods or other items of monetary value from Zynga or any other party. Once real money has been used to buy virtual money, it is gone.

Farm Cash can be bought using credit cards or phone contracts, or accumulated by signing up for free trials with third parties, some of which require the player to hand over credit card or mobile phone numbers. This can result in a charge to that account if the player forgets to cancel the deal once the free trial ends.

In a post on Techcrunch, Arrington said: "These games try to get people to pay cash for in game currency so they can level up faster and have a better overall experience." However, people who do not want to pay by card, or young people who don't have their own credit card, can sign up for "offers" from advertisers to get more of the currency, or can pay through "pay by mobile" companies.

"Most of these offers are bad for consumers because it confusingly gets them to pay far more for in-game currency than if they just paid cash (there are notable exceptions, but the scammy stuff tends to crowd out the legitimate offers)," he said.

One of the companies that allows players to buy Farm Cash through mobile phone contracts is Boku.

Boku's terms and conditions stipulate that users must be 13 and have their parents' consent to use its services, or 18 without parental permission, and Facebook has a minimum age of 13 for users. However, in practice it is possible for young people to get around these rules and sign up without consent.

A spokesman for Facebook said: "Children under 13 are not permitted on Facebook and we have, and will continue to, investigate and disable the accounts of users believed to be under 13. We also encourage parents to talk to their children about safe internet use and to report to us any potential issues including usage of the service by their own kids."

Boku also said it does not target an under-age audience, and added: "We do not work with any publishers who target customers under 13 years of age. There are some publishers who target this audience and have requested to work with us, and we are building software to require and identify their parent/guardians' mobile numbers (this is an extension of some of our current technology which is able to distinguish between landline and mobile numbers). Until this is complete, we will not partner with publishers who cater to an audience under 13."

Generating Farm Cash through signing up for product trials with third parties is portrayed as being free or very cheap, but in fact is can be costly if users fail to cancel subscriptions at the end of the trial period.

Facebook said it had "clear policies in place to protect all users from inappropriate advertising content". "Since introducing updated policies for third-party ads on Facebook Platform in July, we've consistently taken necessary steps to ensure user trust is maintained with applications."

It added: "We've prohibited two entire advertising networks from providing services to applications on Facebook Platform because they were not compliant with our policies and failed to correct their advertising practices. We won't hesitate to continue vigorous enforcement."

Zynga refused to comment on the accusations beyond what its founder Mark Pincus said on his blog. There he agreed with Michael Arrington's comments about the third party offers, but added that such advertising comprises a small part of Zynga's revenue. "So why does Zynga offer these ads? Most of these offers are good for the advertiser and user," Pincus said. "There are many users who don't have access to online payment methods who are still interested in making in game purchases."

He added: "We have worked hard to police and remove bad offers ... Nevertheless, we need to be more aggressive and have revised our service level agreements with these providers requiring them to filter and police offers prior to posting on their networks."

Seperti dilaporkan jurnal Addiction edisi terbaru, suatu riset terhadap pria berusia 18-21 tahun menunjukkan bahwa perokok memiliki IQ rata-rata 94—atau tujuh poin lebih rendah ketimbang non-perokok (101). Skor IQ pada populasi pria muda sehat tercatat antara 84 and 116. Tetapi pada mereka yang merokok lebih dari satu bungkus per hari, IQ-nya berkisar tak jauh dari 90.

Dalam penelitian ini, para ahli mengumpulkan data lebih dari 20.000 pria sehat pada masa sebelum, selama dan setelah mengikuti wajib militer. Sekitar 28 persen responden menghisap satu atau lebih rokok setiap hari, tiga persen lainnya adalah mantan pecandu rokok, sedangkan 68 persen sisanya mengaku tak pernah merokok.

"Dalam kesehatan, secara umum kami berpikir bahwa para perokok cenderung hidup di lingkungan yang sulit atau kurang mendapat pendidikan di sekolah yang baik. Today, the Wrestling-Radio.com reported that former WCW and WWE star Chris Kanyon died. Chris Kanyon, who is officially known as Christopher Klucsaritis, has reportedly passed away on April 4 at his home in Sunnyside, Queens, New York apartment. Chris Kanyon died at the age of 40.

Still acording to Wrestiling Radio, Chris Kanyon was reportedly committed suicide sometime last night. A longtime friend of his was cited asying a pill bottle and “several notes” were found near Kanyon’s body. However, the rumors which say Chris Kanyon committed suicide has not yet been confirmed.

Remembering who he was, Chris Kanyon was a very well-known as an American professional wrestler. According to some sources including like what was written in Wikipedia, he’s best known for his work in World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling.

Notre Dame recruit Matt James dead after falling from hotel balcony

St. Xavier offensive lineman Matt James, one of the nation’s most sought-after football recruits, died Friday in a fall from a hotel balcony on a Gulf of Mexico beach while on spring break.

James, 17, died almost instantly after falling from a third-floor balcony at about 6:25 p.m. at the Days Inn on Front Beach Road, according to police reports cited by WJHG-TV in Panama City.

Luke Massa, St. Xavier’s senior quarterback last fall and a fellow Notre Dame recruit, was with James in Florida.

“Luke is devastated,” Massa’s father, Gary, said late Friday. “He lost one of his best friends.”

Added Massa of James: “This kid was a great kid, I can tell you that.”

Word of the incident spread quickly throughout the St. Xavier community as classmates and football fans mourned James, a 6-foot-6, 291-pound All-American.

When reached for comment Friday night by Blue & Gold.com, St. Xavier football coach Steve Specht said, "I just can't do this right now."

A Facebook group called “RIP Matt James” had more than 2,500 members as of 1 a.m. Saturday, and an outpouring of prayers and affection for James and his family filled the page’s “wall.”

In Florida, Panama City Beach police are continuing to investigate details of the incident.

“The best that we know is Matt fell,” Gary Massa said.

Word of James’ death spread so fast, friends had already arranged an impromptu vigil and started gathering at the school by 10 p.m. In the next hour, at least 75 cars had arrived. Candles lined the entrance to the football field, where the lights were turned on. Students, along with the school’s choir director, stood with candles in their hands.

A prayer service, set for 9 a.m. Saturday morning at St. X's chapel, was announced during Friday's vigil. All Bomber football players, past and present, were asked to attend. It was unclear whether the event would be open to the public.

Kyle Bedinghaus, a classmate and friend of Matt, was one of the organizers of the vigil. He said just Wednesday, before Matt left for Panama City, his friends told him to be safe and not to do anything to mess up his scholarship.

“It’s hard to believe it happened,” the 18-year-old senior said. “You hear it happens all the time, but when it’s someone you know, it’s scary.”

Several students at the vigil described James as a gentle giant who was down-to-earth and nice to those around him.

Choir director Karl Thomsen said Matt was a good student and “a giant teddy bear.”

“I’m still not reacting,” he said. “It’s unbelievable. What do you say to these kids?”

The school had just recently mourned the death of another classmate, Kevin Le, who was hit by a car and killed in September. The news of Matt’s death, Thomsen said, “will hit them hard.”

Some students knew Matt better than others, but it was a time for everyone to come together, Bedinhaus said. “He’s been our brother for four years. To lose him so close to graduation is just a shame. He had so much potential.”

James, earned USA Today first-team All-America honors last season while leading St. Xavier to a No. 4 ranking in the final Division I state poll. As a sophomore, James was a member of the Bombers’ state championship team.

James signed with Brian Kelly’s Fighting Irish on Feb. 3 after also considering Ohio State. The lineman also had looked at Florida and Cincinnati earlier in the recruiting process.

James said he felt most comfortable with the Fighting Irish coaching staff and players and made up his mind the night before he signed.

“It was a really tough decision,” James said at the time. “...I like the situation of being in the first class with Coach (Brian) Kelly there.”

James, a U.S. Army All-American, had scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Florida State and North Carolina, among others.

James also was given the Anthony Munoz Offensive Lineman of the Year award in February.

Last week, a Georgia spring breaker died in a five-story fall from a balcony at the Tropical Breeze motel, just about a mile from the Days Inn, WJGH-TV said.

iPad released and iPad 3G release delayed until end of month

The long awaited iPad was released today, while the iPad 3G release has been delayed until the end of the month. According to a CNN report Saturday morning, most iPad users are looking forward to the apps they will be able to use and/or play on their new iPad.

Customers who pre-ordered it can pick it up at the store or it will be delivered to their home. The iPad released today has Wi-Fi capabilities…so it can be used at home with internet access or at any Wi-Fi hot spot; while the iPad 3G can be used on any cell internet signal.

For people standing in line today, the iPad 3G delayed release is good news, because the lines will be shorter. In Salt Lake City, many diehard Apple fans got in line early this morning to be the first to try the new device.

Parents, Let Your Children Fail

THE belief that regular praise will improve the self-esteem of students has backfired, with educators urging over-anxious parents to let their children fail so they can learn from their mistakes.

Parents were also doing too much for their children who were becoming less resilient and unable to cope with failure. Some were even too scared to put up their hand in class and risk giving the wrong answer.

As new research shows that members of Generation Y are entering the workforce with an inflated sense of their abilities, principals are warning ''helicopter parents'' against putting too much pressure on children to be successful, which could discourage them from risking failure.

Rod Kefford, the headmaster of Barker College, has warned: ''We are creating a generation of very fearful learners and the quality of our intellectual life will suffer as a result.''

Today's students are let down lightly by teachers and wrapped in cotton wool by some parents. But in the 1960s, it was not uncommon for teachers to tell students bluntly that they had given a wrong answer.

''Then someone invented the concept of self-esteem,'' Dr Kefford said. ''In some ways it has been the most damaging educational concept that has ever been conceived.

''We couldn't do anything that would upset or harm the self-esteem of students, which was very fragile, we were led to believe … That is when we stopped our proper work in the character formation in young people. If we are serious about building resilience, we have to let them fail. It is only through our failings in the learning process that we learn anything.'' He said schools needed to give children the confidence to risk failure to encourage more creative thinking.

''[Through] this fear we have of ever allowing them to fail, we are selling them short as human beings and as future adults,'' he said. One of the first empirical studies on generational differences in work values shows Generation Y or the ''millennials'' (born between 1982 and 1999) are entering the workforce overconfident and with a sense of entitlement. The research, led by Jean Twenge at San Diego State University and published in the Journal of Management, shows this generation wants money and the status of a prestigious job without putting in long hours. When they do not get the marks they expect at university or rise quickly enough in their jobs, they turn into quitters.

''More and more students are reaching university not knowing how to do things for themselves. Parents think they are helping young people by doing things for them but they are actually making them less independent,'' Professor Twenge said.

''It is now common for parents and teachers to tell children, 'you are special' and 'you can be anything you want to be'.'' While such comments are meant to encourage students and raise their self-esteem, experts say they can inflate students' egos.

''Feeling special often means the expectation of special treatment,'' she said. ''Your parents might think you're special but the rest of the world might not. This can be a difficult adjustment.''

Ahmad Albar Jadi Gay!!!!!

KOMPAS.com -- Ahmad Albar (63), vokalis grup rock legendaris God Bless, tiba-tiba saja melontarkan pengakuan yang cukup menohok. "Saya jadi gay! Tapi bukan gay yang melambai," ujarnya ditemui di kawasan Pondok Indah, Jakarta, Jumat (2/4/2004).

Tapi tenang, pengakuan yang terlontar dari mulut rocker gaek itu tak ada hubungan dengan orientasinya seksnya saat ini, tapi hal itu terkait dengan perannya dalam film layar lebar pertamanya setelah 32 tahun absen.

Terakhir, diakui ayah aktor Fachry Albar itu, ia beradu akting dengan mendiang rocker Ucok AKA dalam film layar lebar Duo Kribo sekitar tahun 1978.

Sejak akhir Maret lalu, Ahmad Albar kembali merasakan suasana shooting dan berakting di depan kamera. "Awalnya kaget dan deg-degan. Berat saya pikir ketika saya harus berperan sebagai seorang gay. Tapi saya pikir ini tantangan juga. Peran yang belum pernah saya lakukan," ujarnya menjelaskan peran yang dimainkannya di film D'Love arahan sutradara Herfi Kardit.

Beberapa waktu lalu, sejumlah tawaran memang datang kepadanya. Tapi tak satupun ia terima. Alasannya, banyak kesibukan yang tak bisa ditinggalkannya. Nah, baru tahun ini, tawaran itu berjodoh.

"Bukan saya tak berminat. Tapi kesibukan saya pribadi juga di God Bless. Kebetulan baru kali ini lagi kosong. Saya pikir kenapa tidak. Apalagi saya menghargai keuletan kru yang terus membujuk saya. Akhirnya saya luluh juga, " aku pria berambut kribo ini.

Keputusan untuk kembali berakting, tentu saja mencuri perhatian keluarga besarnya. Sang anak, Fachry dan Camelia Malik, penyanyi, aktris dan juga produser itu, tak ayal ikut memberi dukungannya.

"Mereka support walaupun sempat kaget. Saya bahkan sempat mendiskusikannya dengan Fachry. Dia bilang 'Ini peran yang aneh buat papah. Papah gue jadi gay'. Dia sempat baca naskah dari Herfi dan dia bilang ini naskah yang luar biasa," terang Ahmad Albar menirukan ucapan Fachry.

Ngomong-ngomong soal peran yang tak biasa itu, apa tak khawatir dengan imej rockernya yang bakal luntur? "Mungkin ada sebagian kecil penggemar God Bless yang pro dan kontra. Tapi saya rasa untuk film mereka bisa ngerti bahwa ini sebuah peran. Saya yakin mereka tahu bahwa peran adalah peran," katanya.

Wajah Orang Muncul di Kobaran Api Ramayana

KOMPAS.com - Ada fenomena yang menarik dalam salah satu foto yang mengabadikan peristiwa kebakaran hebat di pusat perbelanjaan Ramayana, di Pasar Kebayoran Lama, Jakarta Selatan, Jumat (2/4/2010). Lihatlah, kobaran api sempat membentuk wajah menyerupai manusia.

Dalam foto tersebut dengan jelas terlihat bagian-bagian anggota wajah. Memang tidak secara utuh membentuk wajah. Bagian paling jelas adalah yang menyerupai mata, alis, dan hidung. Foto unik tersebut diabadikan fotografer Persda Network, Bian Harnansa saat memotret proses pemadaman yang dilakukan pasukan pemadam kebakaran di lokasi kebakaran. Wajah dalam api itu berada tepat di samping sejumlah petugas kebakaran yang menaiki tiang crane untuk menambah daya jangkau selang air ke pusat api.

Kobaran api yang membakar Ramayana memang begitu hebat sampai api menjilat-jilat membumbung tinggi. Pasukan pemadam kebakaran sampai membutuhkan waktu sembilan jam untuk melumpuhkannya.

Gejala Serangan Jantung Pada Perempuan

Serangan jantung masih dianggap penyakit kaum laki-laki, padahal perempuan juga bisa terkena. Tapi banyak perempuan yang tidak menyadari sehingga jarang terdeteksi. Kenali gejala serangan jantung pada perempuan.

Penelitian yang dilakukan oleh National Institutes of Health (NIH) menunjukkan bahwa perempuan sering mengalami gejala satu bulan atau lebih sebelum akhirnya mendapatkan serangan jantung.

Diantara 515 perempuan yang diteliti, sebanyak 95 persen mengatakan bahwa mereka baru mengetahui gejala yang berbeda setelah satu bulan sebelum terkena serangan jantung atau Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI).

"Sayangnya banyak perempuan yang tidak tahu bahwa gejala yang dialaminya adalah tanda serangan jantung, karena gejala yang timbul bisa secara signifikan berbeda dengan kaum laki-laki," ujar C Noel Bairey Merz, M.D ketua American College of Cardiology's Prevention and Cardiovascular Diseases Committee, seperti dikutip dari Medicinenet, Jumat (2/4/2010).

Berdasarkan penelitian didapatkan sekitar kurang dari 30 persen perempuan mengalami nyeri dada atau rasa ketidaknyamanan sebelum serangan jantung, dan sebanyak 43 persen tidak mengalami nyeri dada selama fase serangan jantung. Namun kebanyakan dokter tetap mempertimbangkan nyeri dada sebagai gejala serangan jantung yang penting bagi laki-laki dan perempuan.

"Semakin jelas bahwa gejala yang dialami oleh perempuan tidak bisa ditebak seperti laki-laki. Hal ini menunjukkan harus adanya kesadaran baik dari pihak perempuan maupun dokternya mengenai gejala yang dapat mengarah ke serangan jantung," ujar Patricia A Grady, PhD, RN, direktur dari NINR (National Institute of Nursing Research).

Patricia menambahkan hal ini penting agar tidak melewatkan kesempatan sedini mungkin untuk mencegah atau mengurangi AMI, karena hingga kini AMI masih menjadi penyebab pertama kematian pada laki-laki maupun perempuan.

Sebelum serangan jantung, ada beberapa gejala yang biasanya dialami oleh perempuan yaitu:

1. Kelelahan yang tidak biasa (dialami sekitar 70 persen perempuan)
2. Gangguan tidur (dialami sekitar 48 persen)
3. Sesak napas (dialami sekitar 42 persen)
4. Gangguan pencernaan (dialami sekitar 39 persen)
5. Rasa ketakutan (dialami sekitar 35 persen).

Saat serangan jantung terjadi ada beberapa gejala yang biasa menyertai yaitu:

1. Sesak napas (dialami sekitar 58 persen)
2. Lemah (dialami sekitar 55 persen)
3. Kelelahan yang tidak biasa (dialami sekitar 43 persen)
4. Keringat dingin (dialami sekitar 39 persen)
5. Pusing (dialami sekitar 39 persen).

Perempuan yang mengalami kematian akibat serangan jantung karena tidak menyadari gejala yagng timbul. Untuk itu kenali gejala serangan jantung yang terjadi pada perempuan karena penyakit ini bisa menyerang siapa saja tanpa melihat jenis kelaminnya.

Prophet Muhammad Says: Your Smiling In The Face Of The Others Is Charity

Voluntary charity is different than the compulsory alms.

The compulsory alms are 2.5% of the income that are collected each year and given to the poor; it is obligatory when a certain amount of money is reached or exceeded.

Although the compulsory alms are given every year; however, voluntary charity is a part of a Muslim's daily life. Every Muslim is obliged to give charity to boost his piety and spread wealth and goodwill among the whole community.

Prophet Muhammad said that every good deed is charity - even a smile in the face of others is charity.

Prophet Muhammad in his global Hadith that defines the Charity said:

"There is no person who does not have the obligation of doing charity every day that the sun rises."

Upon which he was asked: "O Messenger of Allah, from where would we get something to give in charity so often?"

Prophet Muhammad replied: "Indeed the gates to goodness are many:

* Glorifying Allah,
* Praising Allah,
* Magnifying Allah,
* Saying 'There is no god but Allah',
* Enjoining the good and forbidding the evil,
* Removing any source of harm from the road,
* Listening to the aggrieved,
* Guiding the blind,
* Showing the seeker his need,
* Striving as far as your two legs could carry you and with deep concern to give succour to him who asks,
* Carrying with the strength of your arms (the burdens of) the weak,
* "And your smiling in the face of your brother is charity,
* Your removing of stones and thorns from people's paths is charity,
* And your guiding a man gone astray in the world is charity for you."

All these are acts of charity which are an obligation on you."

The narrow meaning of Charity

Charity, as most people believe, consists of money or various objects given by the rich to help the poor. Based on that narrow meaning, Charity divides people into the receivers and the givers. This division may motivate among the receivers feelings of weakness and among the givers feelings of pride.

Prophet Muhammad puts a unique concept of charity

But the saying of Prophet Muhammad takes charity out of its narrow meaning and opens up a vast and limitless ways of charity by emphasizing that every good deed is charity. And by prompting that voluntary charity is a part of every Muslim's daily life. This is a unique concept of charity.

This unique concept of charity which includes all good deeds however small they may be, allows every person whether rich or poor, to become givers and receivers on an equal basis. Indeed every act of giving is charity, even a smile in the face of your fellow.

The Charity even to the animals:

Prophet Muhammad was asked if acts of charity even to the animals were rewarded by Allah in the Hereafter.

Muhammad replied: 'yes, there is a reward for acts of charity to every beast alive.'

But what if you can not do anything of the above? Another Hadith:

The Prophet said: 'Charity is a necessity for every Muslim.'

He was asked: 'What if a person has nothing?'

The Prophet replied: 'He should work with his own hands for his benefit and then give something out of such earnings in charity.'

The Companions asked: 'What if he is not able to work?'

The Prophet said: 'He should help poor and needy persons.'

The Companions further asked 'What if he cannot do even that?'

The Prophet said 'He should urge others to do the good.'

The Companions said 'What if he lacks that also?'

The Prophet said 'He should hold himself from doing evil. That is also charity.'

And as for the believers Allah reconciled, brought together, their hearts, after old feuds had divided them. Had you expended all that is in the earth, you could not have reconciled their hearts, but Allah reconciled their hearts, through His power. Truly He is Mighty in His kingdom and sovereignty, His way prevailing, He is the Wise, nothing being beyond the scope of His wisdom.

And verse 3:92 says that Allah then prompted the believers to spend in the cause of Allah, saying: you will not attain unto piety i.e. that which is with Allah of reward, honour and Paradise until you spend of that which you love of your wealth and property; and whatever thing you expend, Allah knows of it, and He will requite it accordingly. Allah is aware thereof just as He is aware of your intentions, i.e. whether you intend with it His Countenance or other people's praise.

Verse 8:63, Shakir translation

And (Allah) united their hearts; had you spent all that is in the earth, you could not have united their hearts, but Allah united them; surely he is mighty, wise.

Verse 3:92, Shakir translation

By no means shall you attain to righteousness until you spend (benevolently) out of what you love; and whatever thing you spend, Allah surely knows it.

Daya Tahan Oke dengan Santapan Organik

Belakangan ini, mengonsumsi makanan sehat semakin menjadi tren, terutama di kota-kota besar. Salah satunya mengonsumsi makanan organik. Banyak orang menilai makanan ini sehat karena proses penanaman sampai panen dilakukan secara natural, alias tidak menggunakan bahan kimia. Karena itu pula, makanan ini aman untuk kita konsumsi.

Seiring tren ini, kini, makanan organik semakin mudah dijumpai. Banyak pusat perbelanjaan dan gerai-gerai tertentu memasarkan makanan bebas pestisida, pupuk kimia, hormon pertumbuhan, dan benih transgenik ini. Karena konsumsinya terus meningkat, kini jenis makanannya juga semakin beragam. Selain sayur dan buah-buahan, belakangan juga muncul ayam, telur, dan susu organik.

Makanan organik memang memiliki banyak khasiat bagi kesehatan tubuh. Cukup banyak riset yang menyimpulkan bahwa buah-buahan, sayur mayur, dan kacang-kacangan yang ditanam secara organik banyak mengandung zat nutrisi, termasuk vitamin C, zat besi, magnesium, dan fosfor. Sebaliknya, makanan ini sangat sedikit mengandung nitrat dan endapan pestisida dibandingkan yang non-organik.

"Karena itu, mengonsumsi makanan organik secara teratur membuat badan tidak gampang sakit," ujar Susianto, Ketua Operasional Indonesia Vegetarian Society (IVS).

Daya tahan tubuh menjadi lebih kuat karena makanan organik mengandung antioksidan lebih banyak dibandingkan bahan non-organik. Manfaat antioksidan bagi tubuh cukup banyak. Selain mampu membersihkan darah, juga bisa membantu mencegah berbagai penyakit, seperti kanker, diabetes, kardiovaskuler, dan penyakit degeneratif atau keturunan lainnya.

Makanan organik mengandung antioksidan tinggi karena tidak menggunakan bahan kimia. Pemupukan, misalnya, hanya menggunakan pupuk kompos. Dengan begitu, makanan lebih banyak mengandung nutrisi ketimbang kandungan zat yang membahayakan kesehatan.

Sebaliknya. makanan non-organik bisa berdampak buruk bagi kesehatan. Soalnya, makanan ini mengandung pupuk kimia seperti pestisida, herbisida, hingga fungisida. Nah. zat-zat kimia itu biasanya terus menempel pada sayur dan buah-buahan tersebut.

"Apalagi, buah yang dikirim dari luar pulau atau hasil impor tentu butuh zat pengawet tambahan agar tidak cepat membusuk, sehingga kandungan zat kimianya akan lebih besar lagi," ujar Trini Sudarti, ahli gizi Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat Universitas Indonesia (FKM-UI).

Dampak negatif mengonsumsi makanan non-organik memang tidak akan langsung terlihat. Biasanya, dampaknya baru akan terlihat dalam jangka waktu panjang. Dalam jangka waktu itu, akan terjadi penumpukan zat kimia yang bersifat racun (toxic) di dalam tubuh. Akibatnya. hati atau liver harus bekerja keras menetralkan racun tersebut. Hanya saja, hati tidak akan selamanya bisa menetralkan racun dalam tubuh.

Kalau kita setiap hari mengomsumsi makanan seperti ini, tentu, dampaknya akan lebih cepat terasa. Soalnya, setiap hari ada bahan kimia yang masuk ke dalam tubuh. Akibatnya, ada racun dalam tubuh yang tidak bisa dinetralkan dan berubah menjadi lemak.

"Semakin banyak racun yang masuk, lemak akan semakin menumpuk," kata Adi Sasongko, Direktur Pelayanan Kesehatan Yayasan Kusuma Bangsa.

Lemak jahat di dalam tubuh ini bisa menjadi sumber penyakit. Beberapa di antaranya adalah obesitas, jantung, penyakit kandung empedu, stroke, hingga diabetes melitus. Makanya, demi mengihindari penumpukan lemat jahat ini, banyak kalangan medis menyarankan orang yang tengah menjalankan diet untuk mengonsumsi makanan organik.

Selain ikut membantu kinerja hati, makanan ini juga kandungan serat yang tinggi. Dengan begitu, bisa membantu melarutkan lemak. "Lemak akan dikeluarkan bersama sisa-sisa pencernaan," kata Trini.

Cegah stroke dan jantung
Manfaat lain makanan organik adalah kandungan flavonoid yang cukup tinggi. Asal Anda tahu, flavonoid adalah zat yang mampu menurunkan potensi stroke dan penyakit jantung. Kandungan flavonoid tanaman organik lebih tinggi karena makanan organik tidak dipupuk dengan bahan kimia.

Dengan begitu, tanaman harus bekerja lebih keras untuk mendapatkan nitrogen di dalam tanah. Saat itulah tanaman mampu menghasilkan flavonoid yang menyehatkan jantung kita.

Lain halnya dengan tanaman yang menggunakan pupuk kimia. Tanaman ini tidak perlu bekerja lebih keras untuk mendapatkan nitrogen. Soalnya, pupuk kimia sintetis sudah mengandung logam berat, seperti timbal dan merkuri.

Gossip on social networking sites such as Facebook spreads rapidly in the manner of a contagious virus, say researchers. Mathematicians have developed an equation that describes internet rumours’ ability to fly around the globe in a matter of hours.

They say this is why the secrets of the rich and famous rarely stay hidden for long anymore. The supposed marital woes of France’s first couple, Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni, and some unsavoury text messages between golf star Tiger Woods and one of his mistresses are among the most recent subjects to spread like wild fire via Twitter, blogs and Facebook.

The scientists at Rome’s La Sapienza University created their equation in a bid to measure the internet’s power to spread indiscretion.

Team leader Alessandro Panconesi said: 'And it shows just how fast news - and gossip - travels these days. It's like influenza.'

They will present the findings at the prestigious Symposium on the Theory of Computing in Cambridge, Massachusetts later this year.

So far they have yet to test their theory on the latest celebrity gossip. But Professor Panconesi said he’s already demonstrated its reliability, thanks to the help of a fellow researcher in the U.S.

At the weekend the American mathematician posted one Tweet about the Italian group’s failure to get the funding promised them by the Italian government to carry out their research on the spread of gossip on the internet.

'And within 17 hours there’s a whole page about the work in the Corriere della Sera newspaper,' said Professor Panconesi.

'Funding for science in this country is abysmal and we wanted to show it,' he said. 'I think we’ve managed it.'

But the newspapers in Italy, a country that is obsessed with celebrity, were more interested in hailing the research as evidence of the internet’s miraculous power to shine a light on the lives of the rich and famous.

Dua hari setelah dua bom bunuh diri terjadi di dua stasiun di Moskow, Rusia, aksi serupa kembali terjadi dan menewaskan sembilan orang.

“Dua bom bunuh diri terjadi lagi dan salah satu pelakunya meniru polisi. Sembilan orang tewas dan 18 lainnya terluka di Provinsi Dagestan, Rusia Utara,” demikian pernyataan pihak berwajib Rusia, Rabu (31/3).

Bom bunuh diri tersebut mengguncang Kota Kizlyar dekat perbatasan Dagestan dan Chechnya. Menurut Mendagri Rusia Vyacheslav Gasanov, bom tersebut meledak di dalam mobil, ketika polisi menyuruh si pengemudi untuk menepi dalam pemeriksaan lalu lintas.

The number of serious head and neck cancers linked to a virus spread by oral sex is rising rapidly and suggests boys as well as girls should be offered protection through vaccination, doctors said on Friday.

Despite an overall slight decline in most head and neck cancers in recent years, cases of a particular form called oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) have increased sharply, particularly in the developed world.

This growth seems to be linked to cancers caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), the scientists said in a report in the British Medical Journal.

Two vaccines - Cervarix, made by GlaxoSmithKline, and Gardasil, made by Merck & Co - can prevent HPV, which causes virtually all cases of cervical cancer, the second most common cancer in women worldwide.

Many rich nations have launched HPV immunization programs for girls to try to protect them from the common sexually transmitted virus before they become sexually active.

The scientists, led by Hisham Mehanna of the Institute of Head and Neck Studies at Britain's University Hospital Coventry, said that while including boys in immunisation plans was previously seen as too expensive, it may be time to look again.

"We need to look at the evidence again to re-evaluate the cost-effectiveness of male children in light of this new and rapidly rising incidence," he said in a telephone interview.

More than 500,000 cases of cervical cancer are diagnosed annually in women and it kills around 200,000 a year. Head and neck cancer is the sixth most common cancer among men and women, with about 640,000 new cases each year worldwide.

A recent study found the risk of developing oropharyngeal carcinoma was linked to a history of six or more lifetime sexual partners, four or more lifetime oral sex partners, and, for men, an earlier age at first sexual intercourse.

"Sexual transmission of HPV - primarily through orogenital intercourse - might be the reason for the increase in incidence of HPV related oropharyngeal carcinoma," wrote Mehanna.

The experts pointed to recent studies which showed a 70 per cent increase in the detection of HPV in biopsies taken to diagnose oropharyngeal carcinoma in Stockholm since the 1970s.

HPV-related cancer was also reported in 60 to 80 per cent of recent biopsy samples in studies in the United States, compared with 40 per cent in the previous decade, they wrote.

Mehanna said the findings had other important health implications. Patients with HPV-related head and neck cancers are typically younger and employed, he said, and because their tumors appear to be less deadly than those caused by factors like smoking and drinking, patients may also live longer with the physical and psychological effects of treatment.

"This means they would need prolonged support from health, social, and other services, and may require help in returning to work," he wrote.

Mass indiscriminate computer attacks are giving way to highly targeted individual attempts in a new wave of professional cyber crime, experts say.

Right now millions of computers are being targeted all over the world. Home computers and telecommunications companies are the two user groups most under threat worldwide. In Australia alone, 2.95 million attacks have been detected, originating mainly from Canada, the US and China.

According to Symantec, the maker of Norton AntiVirus and owner of corporate email filtering company MessageLabs, between 20,000 and 40,000 new threats are discovered every day by its 11 security labs around the world.

The worrying new trend is that while mass attacks were the norm in the past, targeted, almost single-user, attacks have started to appear.

Hand-picked individuals in corporations are receiving emails and electronic documents that resemble something they expect to see in their inbox, only to unleash trojans and other malware on to their corporate networks.

In its new report, MessageLabs says the top-five targeted job titles are director, senior official, vice-president, manager and executive director. Top of the list are those responsible for foreign trade and defence policy, especially in relation to Asian countries.

The recent hacking attempts on Google and up to 20 large US corporations were aimed at extracting specific information from single users. Individuals appeared to have been targeted according to their position or access to corporate information, according to the chief architect of security technology and response at Symantec, Carey Nachenberg.

In one documented case, senior managers received an infected PDF agenda for a conference they were planning to attend. Opening the document either tried to download and install an executable file, or directed the user to a credible-looking website that was in fact an attempt at phishing.

"What's very unique about this is people had a lot of patience," says Nachenberg, who is responsible for several security patents and teaches computer science at UCLA. "They spent a lot of time putting their targets together. The purpose of the attack we can only guess. We don't know who got the information and for what purpose."

He says malware authors have switched from mass distribution of a few exploitable threats to micro-distribution of millions of distinct threats, each with different instructions and individual fingerprints.

Symantec has detected 120 million distinct threats in the past 12 months. Some, like Vundo, had been distributed to 18 users, while others, such as Harakit, had attempted to infect only 1.6 users on average.

The security response manager of F-Secure Labs in Malaysia, Chia Wing Fei, cites another strategic exploit example.

"We detected a banking virus that is only interested in PCs in Europe," he says. "It won't infect PCs anywhere else, even if the user goes to the drive-by website. The virus uses the user's IP address to determine targets."

Chia says security vendors have detected a rapid professionalisation of cyber crime. Attacks are no longer perpetrated by script kiddies looking for kudos but organised gangs moving in underground communities bent on generating big dollars.

Gangs are now employing IT professionals and business minds to carefully plan their moves and stay one step ahead of detection. Interestingly, they trade their goods on the internet, commanding high prices for the proceeds of crime.

"When we get too close, they find out," Chia says.

A security report by Symantec that focused on the underground economy in late 2008 estimated the potential value of total advertised goods on the black market was more than $US276 million ($305 million) annually.

The most traded commodity was stolen credit card information, followed by stolen bank account data. Credit card numbers sell for as little as US10¢ to $US25, while bank account information can fetch between $US10 and $US1000.

Vendors such as AVG and McAfee suspect the majority of cyber attacks are now the work of a small number of criminal gangs that also deal in other crimes. "We're talking about dozens of crime gangs off and online that organise money laundering and credit card fraud," says a global security strategist at AVG Technologies, Larry Bridwell.

"There's a small number of incredibly [capable] hackers that make up the largest amount of fraud."

The vice-president of threat research at McAfee, Dmitri Alperovitch, says gangs have built pyramid-like schemes of small operators who are unaware of the size and nature of their employer. They recruit unsuspecting people, including pensioners, who have to do little but withdraw and transfer regular amounts of money.

"They have roughies who ruffle up people locally to make sure the money mules pass on their pay," Alperovitch says.

AVG says despite continuous improvement in technology security, online crimes still happen because 30 per cent of all machines run with outdated antivirus software or with it turned off, criminals make increasingly more money and big corporations don't patch their machines as often as they should.

Now in its fourth year, the global campaign promises to be the biggest ever, organisers said, with thousands of cities and towns in 125 countries pledging to take part, despite last year’s failed climate talks.

Hopes for a binding treaty to halt global warming were dashed when December’s summit of world leaders in Copenhagen only yielded a general agreement on limiting warming to two degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit). Seen even by its supporters as a disappointment and a chaotic failure by critics, Copenhagen was expected to have scuttled people’s hopes for meaningful action on climate change, explained Earth Hour founder Andy Ridley.

“But the craziest thing this year is that rather than that happening, the reaction to Earth Hour has been immense. It is so much more than last year,” Ridley told AFP.

“There appears to be some fatigue to the politics around it... But people are far more motivated this year than they were last year,” when 88 countries took part, he added.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007 when 2.2 million people switched off the lights in their homes, offices and businesses for 60 minutes to make a point about electricity consumption and carbon pollution.
